How to review Syllabi in the Course Information System


This page applies to Department Administrators and Registrar's Offices only, in the Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education, Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design, and the Faculty of Music.


Introduction

The Syllabi module in CIS allows administrative staff to collect marking schemes and syllabi for their department's courses.

 

Access the Syllabi Module

  1. On your Home Page, click the Syllabi tab at the top.

 

Syllabi Dashboard

The Syllabi Dashboard displays all courses in your department(s) along with the submission status for each course. You can search and filter for any course using the fields provided, or sort the courses by clicking the double arrows to the right of each column header.

  • To view the Syllabi submission for an individual course, click the View button to the right of the desired course.
  • To export a list of all your courses along with their Syllabi submission status and marking scheme details, click the Download Excel Spreadsheet button.

Syllabus & Important Dates

As an administrative staff, you can review Syllabi submissions to ensure they meet your Faculty's guidelines.

  1. In the Marking Scheme section, review the information shown to ensure it meets your Faculty's guidelines and policies. Take note of any warnings shown within this section and in the sidebar on the left.
  2. If desired, click the Export Marking Scheme button to download a PDF copy of the course's marking scheme or click on any of the Syllabus Document links to download the file(s) uploaded by the instructor.
  3. The Course Experience section is not subject to departmental approval.
  4. In the Syllabus section, click the filename to download a copy of the syllabus document submitted by the instructor.
  5. If changes need to be made, click the Create a Change Request button (see Change Requests below). With the instructor's consent, you may click the Reset Submission button on the top-right to revert the submission to Unsubmitted status, allowing the instructor to edit their submission.
  6. If no changes need to be made, click the Approve button to approve and finalize the submission.

 

Change Requests

If modifications to the submission need to be made, you can send a Change Request to the instructor. Find out more about creating and managing Change Requests here.
