If you added a shared mailbox to your Outlook profile, you may experience performance issues, such as:
- Items appear to be missing, and/or new items are not appearing in your secondary mailbox.
- Deleted items continue to appear in your secondary mailbox.
- Outlook is slow, and/or there are random hangs.
Instructions
To resolve these issues, try the following methods:
- Reduce the number of folders in secondary mailboxes. To delete folders, simply right-click the folder you would like to delete and select Delete.

- In the Account Settings dropdown, click on Account Settings...
- In the Account Settings dialog box, select the E-mail tab and then double-click on your account.
- In the Exchange Account Settings dialog box, select More Settings.
- In the Microsoft Exchange dialog box, select the Advanced tab.
- Clear the Download shared folders check box.
- Click OK twice.
- Click Next, and select Done.
- Restart Outlook.
