Manage UTmail+ mailbox size storage limits

Introduction

The individual mailbox size limit is based on the assigned toolkit. Consult this article to find out which toolkit was assigned to you and the mailbox size associated with that toolkit: Microsoft 365 Licensing – Toolkit overview and eligibility

Shared mailboxes

Shared mailboxes have 50 GB of Storage.

Check your current used storage

To find out how much mailbox storage you are using, follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to OWA at mail.utoronto.ca.
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon at the top right corner).
  3. Click on View all Outlook Settings in the dropdown Settings menu.
  4. Choose the General heading from the menu on the left-hand side, then choose Storage.
  5. Your mailbox usage is displayed near the right side. From here, you can view the storage distribution.

Reduce your current used storage

After your mailbox reaches its full capacity, you won't be able to send or receive messages. The solution is to reduce the storage.

Note: If you have emails you would like to archive, do that first before emptying the folder.

After that you can empty folders to free up Storage by following these instructions:

  1. Get to the Storage settings by following steps 1-5 above.
  2. Click on Empty (garbage icon) to the right of the chosen folder to clear.
  3. Pick one of the four dropdown options: All, 3 months and older, 6 months and older, or 12 months and older.
