Upload files to OneDrive for Windows
You can copy or move files between folders within OneDrive, or from other folders on your computer.
Move the file to OneDrive
When you move files from other folders on your computer into a OneDrive folder, you're removing them from your computer and adding them to OneDrive.
- To move a file using Windows File Explorer, drag files from the file list in the right pane to OneDrive in the left pane.
Copy the file to OneDrive
If you want to copy the item rather than move it, follow these instructions:
- Open File Explorer.
- Right-click the file or folder and select Copy.
- Then open the OneDrive folder (or sub-folder).
- Right-click inside the folder. Then click Paste a copy of the item to OneDrive.
Sync files to OneDrive for Windows
If you have the OneDrive application downloaded to your computer, you can also use Sync to ensure that any files edited on OneDrive are also edited on your computer automatically. Windows 10 computers should automatically have the OneDrive application. To sync OneDrive files:
- Select Start, type OneDrive, and then select OneDrive.
- Log in with your University of Toronto account.
- Your OneDrive files will start syncing to your computer.
- Once you're synced, you’ll see your files in File Explorer.
- If you would like to monitor the sync, click on the cloud icon on the bottom right to open the OneDrive panel. View the sync status from this menu.
