Introduction
Screenshots can be useful in the Enterprise Service Centre (ESC)’s troubleshooting efforts when you contact us with issues. To take a screenshot, follow these steps:
On Windows
- Most keyboards will have a button labelled with PrtScn. Press this button to take a screenshot of the entire screen.
- To take a screenshot of just one window or message, hold down the Alt key while pressing PrtScn.
Once you do one of the above, you can go into Word or compose an email message and press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot into a document or an email message.
Snipping Tool
Alternatively, you can also use the Snipping Tool that comes pre-installed on Windows to take screenshots.
- Select Start, enter snipping tool, then select Snipping Tool from the results.
- Select the down-arrow next to Mode. Select the Rectangular Snip as the kind of snip you want, and then select the area of the screenshot that you want to capture.
- After you capture a snip, select the Save Snip button.
- In the Save As box, type a file name, location, and type, and then select Save.
On Mac
- Press Command + Shift + 3 to take a screenshot of the entire screen.
- Press Command + Shift + 4 to take a partial screenshot– you will get a cursor that you can use to drag a selection area.
- Press Command + Shift + 5 to take a screenshot of a specific window.
The screenshot will be saved to your desktop with a name that begins with “Screen Shot”. Then attach the screenshot to an ESC ticket.
