Instructions for MacOS Manual Deployment of SAP GUI for JAVA


SAP GUI for JAVA  Installation: Prerequisites

Prepare the macOS by installing the following software:

Note: The Java SAP GUI uses the embedded SapMachine and OpenJFX  stack when installing a .dmg file.  

These are the officially supported OS versions for SAP Gui for JAVA 7.80. 

macOS Monterey 12
macOS Ventura 13 (starting with rev 1)
macOS Sonoma 14 (starting with rev 5)
It might run fine on older versions as well, but this is neither tested nor officially supported.

 OTHER SOFTWARE 

   If not already installed, then download and install the SafeNet Authentication client.


 

SAP GUI for Java Installation

Download the SAPGUI 7.8 for Java software and the Secure Login client from the link below:

Note: The X86 version is compatible with Apple silicon.

If it is a fresh SAP GUI for JAVA install, download and install the SAP Secure Login Client Package called "SecureLoginClient.pkg." The steps can be found below. 

UNINSTALL

If you want to uninstall the older version you need to start the install and then use the "Remove" option using the same software version used to install your current version. See Uninstall at the bottom of this document.

INSTALLATION OF THE SAP SECURE CLIENT

If you are upgrading from an existing SAP GUI for JAVA install, and already have Secure Client, you can skip this section.

After you download SecureLoginClient.pkg from the link provided above. Click on the package and follow the prompts.

Installation welcome page. Click on Continue

Click Continue

Standard Install page. Click on Install

Click Install

SAPGUI still running warning. Click on Close Application

Close the SAPGUI Application if open

Installer wants access to Finder. Click OK.

Click OK

Installation was successful. Click on close.

Click Close

Option to keep or move installer to Trash.

Either click on Keep or Move to Trash.

Run the JAVA GUI installer using the downloaded DMG  file.

Double click on the “SAP GUI for Java Installer” icon.

Click Install. Note there is "Remove" option in case you want to uninstall.

Installation is finished. Click Close.

We can see the SAP GUI icon in the Launchpad.

Search for the SAP GUI icon under your Launchpad. Double-click to launch. SAP GUI for Java will initialize and present the following screen

Next task is to add the SAPGUILandscape.xml to your SAP GUI directory. Directions can be found in the following URL.

If you need to Uninstall SAP GUI 

To do this you will need the original installation file for your current version you want to uninstall

Example file for SAP Gui 7.7 patch 9 GUI770Installation_9-70004682.DMG

Start by running the installation

We can see here the version we plan to uninstall. It must match your installed version. Click next.
