Has a user in your site retired or moved on from their position? Need to offboard someone quickly from your entire site but your permissions are complex?
You can view a list of all users in your site collection and delete one or more of them from the entire site collection. This will remove the user from the main site as well as all subsites, including any groups, sharing links, or limited access permissions.
Note: you must be a Site collection administrator. If you need assistance, contact EASI SharePoint Support.
Instructions
Watch a step-by-step video.
- Go to the root site/top level of your site collection.
- In the site URL, remove the site page information from the site path. For example, https://utoronto.sharepoint.com/sites/testsite/SitePages/Home.aspx becomes https://utoronto.sharepoint.com/sites/testsite/
- Add the following path to the URL: _layouts/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0. Using the example above, the new URL would be: https://utoronto.sharepoint.com/sites/testsite/_layouts/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0
- Note: for OneDrive, the URL would resemble: https://utoronto-my.sharepoint.com/personal/first_lastname_utoronto_ca/_layouts/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0
- Press enter to see the All People page. Find and select the user(s) you want to remove.
- Under Actions, click Delete User.
Note: the above steps can also be applied to your own OneDrive.
