Install Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client


The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client must be installed on devices that will be using the UTORvpn service.

If you already have Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client installed on your device, you do not need to reinstall, unless you have an outdated version.

The current recommended version is 4.10.07061 or higher. 4.10.03104 is the current enforced minimum version.

 

Installation Overview

NOTE: You MUST have administrative privileges on the machine – if you are using a managed computer, ask your local IT to perform the install.

To install AnyConnect for Windows, Mac, and Linux machines, click to download the appropriate client from: https://uoft.me/anyconnect-download (login with your UTORid and password). Open or run the downloaded file to install it.

The AnyConnect client for mobile devices is available by searching in the appropriate app store: Google Play Store for Android devices and Chromebooks, or the Apple App Store for iOS devices (iPad, iPhone).

 

Detailed Installation Instructions - Windows

Note that you must have administrative privileges to install AnyConnect on your machine. If you are using a managed computer, ask your local IT to perform the installation.

  1. Login to UofT’s AnyConnect download site at: https://uoft.me/anyconnect-download (login with your UTORid and password).
  2. Click on “Cisco AnyConnect VPN Windows Client” to download the installation file.
  3. Open the downloaded .msi file to start the installation wizard.  
  4. Follow the prompts to accept the license agreement and complete the installation.

 

Detailed Installation Instructions - Mac

Note that you must have administrative privileges to install AnyConnect on your machine. If you are using a managed computer, ask your local IT to perform the installation.

  1. Login to UofT’s AnyConnect download site at: https://uoft.me/anyconnect-download (login with your UTORid and password).
  2. Click on the correct version of the Cisco AnyConnect VPN MacOS Client to download the installation file.
  3. Open the downloaded .dmg file. This may require an administrator password.
  4. Double-click on “AnyConnect.pkg” to begin the installation.
  5. Click “Continue” and accept the licensing agreement.
  6. Uncheck all modules except “VPN” and click “Continue”. Cisco AnyConnect installation wizard for Mac 
  7. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

 

Detailed Installation Instructions - Linux

Note that you must have administrative privileges to install AnyConnect on your machine.

  1. Login to UofT’s AnyConnect download site at: https://uoft.me/anyconnect-download (login with your UTORid and password).
  2. Click on “Cisco AnyConnect VPN Linux Client” to download the installation file.
  3. Locate the .tar.gz file in your Downloads folder and extract it to a directory.
  4. In the extracted directory, right-click on the “VPN” directory and select “Open in Terminal”.
  5. Run the following command (enter your administrator password when prompted): sudo bash vpn_install.sh
  6. Follow the prompts to accept the licensing agreement and complete the installation.
