Antivirus software for U of T community members

For university-managed devices

Information Security recommends that all devices owned, operated or managed by the University of Toronto be enrolled in the Advanced endpoint protection service. This service provides next-generation antivirus capabilities with 24/7 live monitoring and response.

Advanced endpoint protection is provided at the unit level; it is not available for individually owned devices. Unit administrators can request that their unit be onboarded to the service.

For non-managed devices

For individuals using University equipment or handling institutional data, do not install or use products by Kaspersky Lab. Learn more about prohibited equipment vendors.

For devices such as personal computers which are not managed by the University of Toronto, Information Security recommends the operating system’s built-in antivirus solution.

Antivirus software should always be kept enabled and up-to-date. For more information about antivirus best practices, refer to the Information Security Handbook.
