Message(s) from UTORlist not being received


If you are not receiving messages from a list that you belong to, or it does not appear in your Inbox, it is possible the list message is being filtered as spam.

To prevent this from happening, add the UTORlist address to the safe senders list in your email program.

For example: listname-l@listserv.utoronto.ca (replace listname with the name of the List)

Please note: If you are using a Mac, please use the OWA directions as there is no option for safe sender lists in Outlook for Mac

In OWA

  1. Click the Settings button in the top right corner and start typing Safe Senders.
  2. When you see the setting in the search results, click on it to open it.
  3. Under Safe senders and domains, click Add, then type the list address (for example: @listserv.utoronto.ca or listname-l@listserv.utoronto.ca where you replace listname with the name of your list), and then press Enter or Return.
  4. Click Save.

In Outlook for Windows

  1. Make sure you are viewing the Classic Ribbon. From the Home tab, click on the Junk icon and choose Junk E-mail options.

  2. In the Safe Senders tab, click Add.

  3. Add the UTORlist address to the Safe Senders List check box (for example, @listserv.utoronto.ca or listname-l@listserv.utoronto.ca where you replace listname with the name of your list).
  4. Click OK, then OK again.

Outlook for Mac

Outlook for Mac does not have a setting for adding safe senders.
