Access the online version of Mircosoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Introduction

Through UTmail+, you can access online versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on the web. It is similar to the desktop version of the app. It also allows you to access the same document from multiple desktop browsers. The most powerful feature is that you can share your documents with anyone and collaborate in real-time.

Instructions

  1. Log in to mail.utoronto.ca
  2. Click on the waffle icon (a grid of three by three dots).

  3. In the expanded menu, select Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. In this example, we will use Word. The apps might not appear in the exact same spots for you, but you should be able to find them among the listed apps. If you still can't see the app you're looking for, click on the 'More apps' icon at the bottom - this will open the full app panel for you.

  4. Select Create blank document to begin a new Word document or you can select one of the templates below and Create with templates.

  5. A new word document will open. All documents created on Word on the Web are automatically saved to your OneDrive. Similarly, Excel sheets created in Excel for the web and slides made in PowerPoint for the web are automatically saved to your OneDrive. New changes you make to the document are also saved as you work. You can also collaborate with others in real time by clicking the 'Share' button at the top right corner of the document. Once shared, you'll be able to see any changes made by others instantly.
