This document provides step-by-step instructions for students on how to request temporary access to locked patient charts in Axium.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Attempt to Access the Patient Chart
- Log in to Axium: Use your credentials to log in to the Axium system.
- Navigate to the Patient Chart: Attempt to access the patient chart as you normally would.
Step 2: Identify Access Restriction
- Access Denied Notification: If the PHIPA consent is missing or has expired or the patient has a large patient balance, you will receive a notification indicating that access to the patient chart is restricted.
- Review Notification: Carefully read the notification to understand the reason for the access restriction.
Step 3: Request Temporary Access
- Locate the "Request Temporary Access" Button.
- Click the Button: Click on the "Request Temporary Access" button to initiate the request process.

Step 4: Confirm dialogs to request access
- You will be prompted to confirm access to the chart. Have your instructor swipe their access card to access the chart.

Step 5: Add the missing consent
Go to the Attachments module and click on "Consents" and add the CLPOLR consent and have the patient sign the consent. Once the PHIPA consent is added the chart will be immediately unlocked.
