Troubleshooting Form Access Errors: What Recipients and Senders Need to Know


If users get the "You don't have access to Forms" error, it is likely due to receiving an incorrect URL from the sender.

Important: Do NOT send the URL from the top of your browser while your form is open. This will result in an error message indicating that recipients don't have access to Forms. 

Microsoft Forms license is not required to respond. The Forms license is only required for creating or editing/administering the survey.

Microsoft Forms is a powerful tool that allows you to create surveys and quizzes. You can easily share these forms and collect responses from your audience. This article will guide you through the steps to send a form and collect responses effectively. 

Steps to Send a Form and Collect Responses 

1. Open Your Form 

2. Navigate to Microsoft Forms and open the form you want to share. 

3. Select Collect responses. 

 

 

4. Under Send and collect responses, select the audience from these options:   

  • Anyone can respond - Anyone inside or outside of your organization can submit responses to your form or quiz.
  • Only people in my organization can respond - Only people within your organization, signed in with a work or school account, can submit responses to your form or quiz.
  • Specific people in my organization can respond - Only people or groups in your organization that you specify can respond to your form or quiz. You need to complete the Enter a name, group, or email address field. 

 

5. To copy the URL, select Copy link. Select the Shorten URL checkbox if you want a shorter URL than what's provided.   

 

6. Once you get the link by clicking on “Copy link”, you can paste the link directly in an email or Teams chat to share.
