Activate your UTORid account

When your UTORid is created, you will receive an email from Information Security with a link to activate your account. Activation is completed through the Microsoft Self-Service Password Reset tool, which allows you to set your initial password.

Instructions

  1. Look for an email from Information Security (noreply.infosec@utoronto.ca) with the subject line “U of T UTORid activation instructions.”
    1. The email will show your UTORid and the email address you will need to enter on the first screen of the activation tool.
    2. If you are a student, your email will end in @mail.utoronto.ca (see image below).

2. Otherwise your email will end in @utoronto.ca (see image below).

Note: If you do not see the activation email in your inbox, check your Spam or Junk folder. Mark the message as not spam to prevent future emails from being filtered.

4. Enter your email as indicated in the activation email and click Next.
5. You will be asked for your preferred method of verification. Select "Email my alternative email" and click Email.

6. Check your alternate email for a code. (Note: the code is valid for 15 minutes). If you do not see the messages in your Inbox, check your Spam or Junk folders and mark the message as not spam to prevent it from going to your Spam or Junk folder in the future.

7. Go back to the Password Reset page. Enter the code in the requested field and click Next

8. You'll be prompted to create a new password.
Please note: Passwords must be between 16 and 128 characters in length. Spaces are allowed, and there are no restrictions on special characters. You cannot set your password to one you have used previously.

9. Success! Your password has been reset. You will be prompted to log in with your new password the next time you access email on desktop applications or Outlook on the web.
