How to Import Details from previous submissions in the Course Information System

This page applies to Instructors in the Faculty of Arts & Science, Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, and University of Toronto Scarborough only.


Introduction

The Import functionality allows instructors to streamline their submission by pulling relevant information from their previous submissions.

Note: Import Details functionality is currently only available in the Syllabus Builder module.

Access the Import Details function

  1. On your My Courses home page, click on the Syllabus Builder tab.
  2. Click the status link to the right of the desired course.

Import Details

The Import Details functionality appears on the first step of the Syllabus Builder. Importing can only be done after you have previously submitted a syllabus via the Syllabus Builder module in CIS.

Note: Any existing information saved to the form prior to importing will be cleared. Additionally, uploaded files are not imported.  

  1. On the About the Syllabus Builder step, click the Start a New Import button.
  2. Select the Session for the course that you wish to select.
  3. Select the course that you wish to import details from.
  4. Click the Import Details button to complete your import.

Subsequent imports will overwrite any information that has been imported or saved.

Activity Log

When the details have been imported, an entry will appear in the activity log. This entry will reference the time and date of the import and the course and section codes that were imported from.
