Description

Polymers are powerful tools for biomedical engineering and have applications in drug delivery, regenerative medicine and biomedical devices. Polymer chemistry and structure can dictate material function and can be used to tune the way these materials interact with biological matter. This course introduces polymer material properties including rheology, gelation, solubility, and glassy phase transition in the context of designing materials for biomedical applications. Classes will alternate between lectures that focus on introducing these fundamental polymer concepts and discussion-based classes where we will explore the application of these concepts in innovative biomaterials in the literature.
