The UTORvpn service provides a UofT IP address for general on-campus access to resources. See the Related Articles section at the bottom of this article for information on the UTORvpn VPN service.
Ensure you have downloaded and installed the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client on your device. See the Related Articles section at the bottom of this article for details on how to install AnyConnect.
Initial Configuration Instructions
- Open the AnyConnect app.
- If this is your first time opening the app, click “OK” to agree to the licensing agreement and allow AnyConnect to access your device.
- If you are prompted by your device security manager, you do not need to authorize AnyConnect to make or receive phone calls.
- You may be prompted to enable notifications – this is your personal preference and does not affect operation of the VPN.
- In the app, select “Connections” and then “Add New VPN Connection”.
- Input the following information:
- Description: UTORvpn
- Server address: general.vpn.utoronto.ca

- Click Save or Done. If you are prompted to confirm adding a VPN connection, click “Allow”. You may also need to enter your device passcode to complete the configuration.
Connect to and Disconnect from UTORvpn
- Open the AnyConnect app and turn the AnyConnect VPN to “ON”.
- A new window will appear. The Group field should read “utorvpn”.
- Enter your UTORid and associated password, then click “Connect”.

- When successfully connected, the Details field will read “Connected”.
- To disconnect from UTORvpn, open the AnyConnect app and turn the AnyConnect VPN to “OFF”.
