Student UTmail+: Configure Apple Mail


Introduction

Apple Mail is an email client included by Apple Inc. with its operating systems macOS, iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. 

Note: Before you begin, please consult this article to check that you have a compatible email client that supports modern authentication. Older versions of Apple Mail may not work. 

Remove an existing UTmail+ email account

If you have an existing UTmail+ account set up on your device, please delete your existing UTmail+ account from your device before adding it.

Add the UTmail+ email account

  1. At the top left corner of your screen, click on the Apple icon. In the dropdown, select System Preferences...

  2. In the System Preferences window, click on Internet Accounts.

  3. On the Internet Accounts page, click on Microsoft Exchange.

  4. In the pop-up window for Microsoft Exchange, type your name in the Name field and your UTmail+ email address (firstname.lastname@mail.utoronto.ca) in the Email Address field. Then click on Sign In.

  5. On the next page asking, "Sign in to your Exchange account using Microsoft?", click on Sign In

  6. You will be taken to the Weblogin screen. Enter your UTORid and Password and click on the log-in button.

  7. Once the device has confirmed connectivity with the Microsoft Exchange server, you will be asked which type of folders to synchronize. Email, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, and Notes are selected by default. Click on Done.

  8. Open the Mail application by clicking on the Mail icon in your dock or on Finder > Applications > Mail.

  9. Mail will open and begin to import all your Student UTmail+ folders and messages. This may take a while.

Verify your UTORid and Password to check if you have the correct UTORid and password combination.
