Introduction
When you export your contacts from UTmail+ on Outlook, a copy of your contacts is saved to a CSV file, or other file type. You can then use this file to import your contacts to another email account.
Instructions
Scroll down to find instructions for exporting contacts to UTmail+ on Outlook Web Access (OWA), Outlook for Windows, and Outlook for Mac.
Outlook Web Access (OWA)
- Log into your UTmail+ account online at https://mail.utoronto.ca. This will open up your inbox. If you are importing contacts to a shared mailbox, navigate to the shared mailbox inbox.
- Click on the People tab at the bottom of the left sidebar:
- At the top right of the People tab, click on Manage contacts, then Export Contacts.
- If you do not see the Manage option at the right of your screen, you may need to minimize the left sidebar to create more horizontal space.
- In the Export contacts window, click on Export.
- You may see a window where you need to select Save to save "contacts.csv" in your default Downloads folder.
Outlook on Windows
- Open the Outlook application.
- Choose File.
- Choose Open & Export, then Import/Export.
- In the Import and Export Wizard window, choose Export to a file. Then click on Next.
- Choose Comma Separated Values. Then click Next.
- In the Select folder to export from box, scroll to the top if needed and select the Contacts folder that's under your account. Choose Next.
- Choose Browse.
- Name your file, and choose OK.
- Confirm where your new contacts file will be saved on your computer, and choose Next.
- Choose Finish to start exporting your contacts immediately.
- Locate the new .csv file on your computer and open it with Excel to verify your contacts are there. You'll likely have a lot of empty cells. That's normal.
Outlook on Mac
The export function is currently only available in the legacy version of Outlook. To see if you are running that, click on the Outlook menu and see if there is a checkmark beside Legacy Outlook.
- On the Tools tab, choose Export.
- In the Export to Archive File (.olm) box, check the items you want to export, and choose Continue.
- In the Save As box, under Favorites, choose the Downloads folder, and click Save.
- Once your data has been exported, you'll get a notification. Choose Finish.
