Scope of this Documentation
SAP GUI for Windows 8.00 (as of January 27, 2023)
General restrictions:
Hard disk requirements (independent of SAP GUI release).
Note: Please make sure to restart the system after the installation is complete
First step is to un-install older versions of SAP GUI on the system
Please click on the link - Uninstall SAPGUI
Click on the link above for the location of the software download. | |
To extract the downloaded software: Right click on the file "SAPGUI 8.00 Core Install" zip file. click on Extract all from the options to save it to a folder. | |
Select the folder location for where files would be extracted. Click on Extract

Once you confirm, the extractor creates a folder and unzips the files. |

Note: If you receive an error message or the copy fails abruptly, please rerun the Extraction to overwrite the existing files. |

Executables for SAPGUI installation can be found in folder "SAPGUI 8.0 Core Installation.zip\SAPGUI 8.0 Core Installation\PRES1\GUI\Windows\Win64". Click on Win64 | |
Note: Unless you have a specific requirement for a 32-bit SAP GUI, you should use the 64-bit install as the standard option.
Please transverse to this path “SAPGUI 8.0 Core Installation.zip\SAPGUI 8.0 Core Installation\PRES1\GUI\Windows\Win64” Right click on SapGui64Setup. Click on Run as Administrator. Enter the credentials. |

Click next to continue |

Select the relevant options. 1.SAPGUI for Windows 8.00 64bit (Compilation 1) 2.SNC Client Encryption 2.0
Select the options, Click next to continue. |

Restart the desktop/system once the installation is complete. | |

Download SAPGUI Patch from the location listed above at point 4.1 Next step is to extract the "GUI800_4-64bit" Zip file. |

Right click on the patch file to extract. | |
Check and confirm the location of location Click on Extract |

Once you extract the zip file, right click on the patch software.
Note: Run as Administrator |

Click next to continue | |
Once you get the message showing the installation is successfully complete. Please close the window. Installation is now complete, and you can try login from the logon pad. |
To confirm the patch level has been successfully installed. Open the SAPGUI logon pad. Right click on left top corner of SAP logon pad, from the options listed. Click on "About SAP logon" to see more information. |

The information about the updated patch level can be found in the details listed on the page. |

Please find the Location of XML under the path below on your local system:
"C:\Users\adminuser\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common" Note: User name should be as from the path mentioned below. Also please note that the folder "Appdata" might be a hidden folder, Please unhide it from the view tab.

Alternate way can find the xml file location: Open the SAPGUI logon pad. Right click on left top corner of SAP logon pad, from the options listed. Click on "Options" to see more information. |

Go to "SAPUILandscape.xml" file location as mentioned above. Right click on the file to choose option rename. Rename SAPUILandscape file to SAPUILandscape.Backup_%Year% |

Once you have had the backup of the old file. Copy the downloaded XML file Copy the SAPUILandscape_"users".xml file to "C:\Users\adminuser\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common" and rename it to "SAPUILandscape.xml" |

You can see the list of the systems after the SAPUILandscape.xml has been replaced | |
Note: "Blue Crystal" is the default theme. Go to the options on the SAP logon pad again Select the Theme settings from the options. Select theme "Blue Crystal Theme" Click Ok to save. |

The below steps applicable for any Windows OS version:
Create a new Environment variable Go to System properties -> Advanced -> Environment variables |

Enter Variable Name and Value as follows (lists of all variables provided below(section 6.1) | |||
Enter Variable Name and Value as follows (lists of all variables provided above) Please make sure that there is no extra space in the end or at the beginning of the Variable value.

Check if the new variable is added Click on close and restart the system if required. |

Right-click on the Desktop and Select New > Shortcut |
|
Copy & Paste the following into the “Location field (or navigate to the location of the SAPgui.exe program) usually its as mentioned below
"C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPGUI\SAPgui.exe"
Click Next |

Pick a meaningful name for the shortcut (like SAP_AMS) and click Finish |

Right-click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties
Click Apply and the OK to close. |

Append <space>+ %SAP_AMS% to the end of the “Target” field.

Allow the connection to proceed.
Click on allow and “remember my decision” |

When opening the shortcut, the SAP GUI Logon Screen with SNC enabled would appear. Look for the “Lock” at the bottom of the screen. |
