How to access a shared mailbox

How to access a shared mailbox

UTmail+ shared mailboxes are accessed via an individual’s personal UTmail+ account credentials (UTORid and password). A UTmail+ shared mailbox does not have its own set of login credentials, unlike the shared mailboxes that were previously issued on the legacy UTORmail email platform.

Owners of shared mailboxes grant and revoke mailbox access privileges via UTORGrouper: KB0010165

Windows (Outlook 2016/2019/365)

Access on the web (mail.utoronto.ca)

Mac

Mobile Devices (smartphones, tablets)

Thunderbird and other POP/IMAP email clients do not officially support UTmail+ shared mailboxes. Modifying the personal Thunderbird setup parameters (as seen in KB0012312) may work if the username is in the form "shared.email@utoronto.ca/personal.email@utoronto.ca". Accessing shared mailboxes via mail.utoronto.ca is recommended to avoid connection issues.
